It’s all bout the GLOBAL SOUTH …

Sikander are a Melbourne-based outfit concocting Eastern-flavored club music with elements of cinematic atmospherics, and bass culture into a groove-laden sonic spread.

Stylistically, Sikander is influenced by Dub, Balearic grooves, psychedelic Sitar-Funk, and the Folk musics of the Indian subcontinent.sikander

Sikander are Pradip Sarkar aka Dj Kalimantan (formerly DJ Lord Lingham) on beats, samples and synthesiser, and Jeremy Malcolmson on electric sitar and guitar. On-stage, they are joined by either Prem CJ or Richi Madan on live percussion. Their sound is aimed at revellers looking for something familiar and dancefloor-friendly yet charmingly exotic, as the outfit blend club beats, deep sub-bass and scintillating synths, with South Asian percussive rhythms, sitar-fuzz and guitar skanks.

Sikander has performed at Rainbow Serpent (Dj set with Lord Lingham), Dragon Dreaming Festival (ACT), Tanglewood Music and Arts Festival, Gear Shift, hosted by Clan Analogue, the French Island Music and Arts festival on New Years Eve, We Love Life festival at CERES Environmental Park (East Brunswick), Chrysalis early winter festival, The End of the Line Festival (Belgrave), and the South Asian Food Festival. They have also performed at AFROCAN (Sub Club, Melbourne), and at Belleville as part of the Global Safari Thursdays. International stints have included sets in German clubs in the cities of Berlin, Frankfurt, and Dortmund.
